What is Restorative Dental Care?

Any procedure which aims to restore the normal function and appearance of your smile would be considered restorative dental care.

By fixing structural problems such as missing or damaged teeth, our dentists can help restore your smile - and your oral health.

Our dentists at Sutherland Dental Group can help determine the right restorative treatment option for you, depending on your issue.

Dental Crowns

Crowns are placed on top of teeth to restore their function and appearance. For example, they can help return a stained or discoloured tooth to its natural appearance. These porcelain caps can also be used to attach bridges, prevent a cracked tooth from further deteriorating or to cover dental implants.

Dental Bridges

Bridges are custom-made, natural-looking tooth replacements that are bonded to existing teeth or dental implants to replace a section of missing teeth, effectively 'bridging' the gap. They can restore the bite between upper and lower teeth, and the natural contour of teeth. Plus, they are barely noticeable.

Dental Fillings

Tooth-coloured composite fillings are used to repair a cavity or damage to teeth, such as a crack. Often chosen for their durability and ability to blend in with natural teeth, these fillings can tolerate moderate pressure from the constant stress of chewing, and may be used on both front and back teeth.

TMJ Disorder Treatment

The temporomandibular joint (TM) is a hinge connecting your jaw to your skull's temporal bones. Disorder in this joint can cause a host of issues with your jaw and the muscles in your face, including painful symptoms. Our dentists can detect, diagnose and develop a treatment plan for TMJ Disorder.

Root Canals

Diseased blood vessels, tissues and nerves on the inside of a tooth need to be removed before they cause other oral health issues. To accomplish this, your dentist performs a root canal. Removing bacteria and decay helps stop the spread of infection and prevents the need for extraction later.

Full & Partial Dentures

These artificial teeth can be used to replace one missing tooth or several consecutive teeth (partial dentures), or an entire jaw of missing teeth (full dentures).

Dentures allow patients with missing teeth to maintain their facial structure, and to speak and chew properly.

Often referred to as complete dentures or false teeth, full dentures can be fitted to your upper or lower jaw. Oral adhesive or suction holds them in place. The placement process takes a few weeks and several appointments.

Partial dentures are made of one or more artificial teeth, held in place by clasps fitted to your natural teeth or a tooth replacement such as a dental crown.

Dentures are designed to be worn every day and removed at night. They can also be removed for cleaning or sleeping.
